When we were all much younger we used to sit in the back of my Dad’s truck whilst parked outside our house. We all loved that truck. We loved it when we were very young and played in it in the summer, we still loved it when it moved my older brothers and then me into our own homes. By then it was an old truck and was known to break down more than occasionally. Once I was on work experience with Dad on the way to a big job when the truck broke down. But my old man wasn’t daft; he had arranged breakdown cover through his truck insurer. I quite enjoyed our frequent picnics in the truck whilst waiting for the RAC by the road.
The truck then had an accident where an uninsured driver had hit it. Dad was fine, but the truck wasn’t doing so well. When I thought back to the lectures around the family table about insurance, I wasn’t worried anymore. When my parents made me get fully comp insurance when I had better things to spend my money on I was so annoyed, but 3 claims later and I’m glad I paid those premiums!
It wasn’t long before we were informed that the truck was dead. The insurance company were great and sorted us straight out with a new one, but for me and my brothers, this new shiny one wasn’t as good as the old truck we’d grown up with. Dad, however, was very happy of course! He’d had the correct cover, and the insurance had paid for itself over the years and now Dad had been given a replacement truck free!
Now I’m making sure the kids have the right insurance on their vehicles. I have the truck now. It’s not so shiny anymore. I don’t use it for work but it comes in handy when moving the eldest into and home from university. I still make sure I have breakdown cover on my insurance; I definitely wouldn’t be able to get the truck going if it broke down, and neither of the kids would be able to help.
Now Dad doesn’t do it anymore, I go to a broker to search lots of separate policies to insure the truck under – I just have to call up if I need to know anything. If you have a truck which you want to properly protect, then talk to a good broker, and get some good insurance!
To make savings you need to plan well in advance before you shop around. My brothers and I were not impressed. Caravan Insurance caravan insurance Make sure you know the amounts of each claim, and which event each amount is related to.

Congratulations! Your business grew to the point where the number of vehicles you have was considered to be a fleet for insurance purposes. Your broker negotiated a fleet rate for you. Your vehicles no longer have “no claims bonus”, but your renewal is tailored for you based on your claims experience in the last year.
Are you going to shop around for your renewal? Are you excited about it? Are you expecting an increase in your renewal?
Shopping around can be hard work for both you and your broker, but it is a good idea to shop around because you are likely to make savings from year to year.
Planning at least six weeks in advance of your renewal is the only way of making the best savings. You also need to let your broker know that you need competitive quotes, and if he doesn’t comply, you should find another broker or get the quotes for yourself.
It’s not just as simple as giving yourself six weeks though. Most importantly any insurer is going to need the full details of your claims for the last three years. They are going to want to know the amounts of each claim, what it related to (theft / accident with your driver at fault / accident with your driver not at fault etc). In this last case it is important to know that the third party insurer paid for the damage. This information should be supplied by your existing insurer. If they are reluctant to supply it, insist, you are entitled to the information.
You will need all the details of all your vehicles if you are using an alternative broker. These details include the make, model and where the vehicle is stored overnight. The drivers will all also have to give their details, including age, gender, driving licence details and driving related convictions. Gathering these details will not be a wasted effort because you will need this information for your broker.
With fleet insurance, your administration is simplified, and so it is very convenient, but it can be quite difficult to get the best deal at renewal.
One day I was visiting home and the truck wasn’t there. Fleet Insurance fleet insurance As a result of frustration at being snowed in I bought a four-wheel drive. accident with your driver not at fault etc).

I have four cars which I have acquired over the years. I used to insure them separately, but I have now spoken to an insurance broker who has informed me that I am able to insure them using a fleet policy, meaning all the cars are under one policy. This means I am now able to renew them at once, saving time, and meaning there is only one annual premium charge, which is much cheaper than using separate policies for each car.
My original car was small, and was only used to transport me from A to B. I bought it after having to ride my bike to work, and although I loved it, it was impractical because I lived at the top of the hill, and I couldn’t drive up in snow.
As a result of frustration at being snowed in I bought a four-wheel drive. Although this is a brilliant car, I couldn’t sell my old one, and still use it for small tasks such as trips to the supermarket. However, I began to realise that the search for two cheap insurance policies was too time consuming.
I soon had to buy a van for work, to accompany my small car and the four-wheel drive. I initially thought that fleet insurance only catered for companies with hundreds of vehicles, but after consulting an insurance broker, I was informed that not only could I take out a policy with just three vehicles, but also that different types of vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks can be insured on the same policy. After taking out a policy for my three vehicles, I got a discounted RAC breakdown cover price.
I was shocked to learn that I could also add my wife’s car to my fleet insurance policy. I have saved so much time by using one policy as opposed to four separate ones. If your household has three or more cars and fewer drivers, you should speak to a good insurance broker who will be able to sign you to a fleet insurance policy, saving you time and money.
Fleet Insurance fleet insurance I bought it after having to ride a bike to work, and was so pleased. Also, alongside this policy I got a discounted price on my RAC breakdown cover. Once I was on work experience with Dad on the way to a big job when the truck broke down.

Whether it is home, health, life, or car insurance, the monthly premiums we pay takes a big bite out of our pay checks. It seems as though that much of our income is now being spent on insurance. As well, we often end up with many different insurance providers which can be frustrating and confusing. Realizing how complicated and annoying it can be to have many insurance providers as well as the costs of paying so many premiums, insurance companies have come up with practical ways for consumers to lower their insurance costs. One way to cut down on the number of providers and save money is to combine your auto insurance and home insurance into one policy.
For most people, at some point in life, they will own both a vehicle and a home at the same time. Combining home and auto insurance from one insurer will reduce the amount people pay on their monthly premiums for each type of insurance. Often they can save hundreds and even thousands of dollars a year. Many insurance experts estimate that consumers can save between 15% – 20% on their insurance costs when they combine their auto and home policies.
Most insurance providers now provide discounts to customers who buy both home and auto insurance together from their company. Not only will home insurance provide coverage for the home according to the details outlined in the policy, but a homeowner will also have auto coverage for their vehicle. Depending on their policy, this can include collision, liability, comprehensive…etc.
Another great benefit of combining of combining auto and home insurance policies is you will only have one deductible to pay. When you have individual insurance policies, having more than one deductible can really add up. For instance, you could have a home insurance deductible of $1000.00 and a car insurance deductible for $500.00. With one insurance package, you will have one cheaper deductible to pay in the event you have to make a claim.
The best way to get inexpensive home and auto insurance is to comparison shop using an online comparison quote tool. There are insurance resource sites that allow users to request quotes from several different insurance providers. It is a fast and easy way to find the cheapest home and auto insurance policy. However, it is important not to sacrifice essential coverage to save money. When you search for insurance online, you will not have to worry about obligations or high pressure sales tactics.
If you have a vehicle and home, you need to make sure you are protected by having the right amount of insurance. Unfortunately, with so many different insurance policies available, it has become quite expensive to get all of the essential insurance from a variety of different providers. As well, the economy is still unstable so most people are still sticking to their tight budgets. Combining your home and auto insurance policy is one way to cut down on your insurance costs and put more money back in your wallet.
